At BirdWatch Explorer, we are committed to ensuring your satisfaction with our products and services. This Refund Policy outlines our guidelines for refunds and returns. Please read this policy carefully before making a purchase.
1. Digital Products
1.1 Bird Watching Guides and E-books
Due to the digital nature of our bird watching guides, e-books, and downloadable content, all sales are generally final once the digital product has been delivered to you. However, we offer the following exceptions:
- If you have not downloaded the digital product yet, you may request a full refund within 14 days of purchase.
- If you experience technical issues that prevent you from accessing the digital product, we will either resolve the issue or provide a full refund.
- If you accidentally purchased the same digital product twice, we will refund the duplicate purchase.
1.2 Bird Watching Apps and Software
For our mobile applications and software:
- Refunds for mobile applications are processed according to the policy of the respective app store (Apple App Store, Google Play Store, etc.) from which you made your purchase.
- For software purchased directly from our website, we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee if the software does not function as described.
2. Physical Products
2.1 Bird Watching Equipment
For physical products such as binoculars, field guides, and bird watching accessories:
- You may return unused, unopened items in their original packaging within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the purchase price (excluding shipping costs).
- If you receive a damaged or defective item, we will replace it or provide a full refund including original shipping costs if you notify us within 7 days of receiving the item.
- Items that have been used or are returned without their original packaging and accessories may be subject to a restocking fee of up to 15% of the purchase price.
2.2 Return Shipping
For returns of physical products:
- Customers are responsible for return shipping costs unless the return is due to our error (e.g., you received a damaged, defective, or incorrect item).
- We recommend using a trackable shipping service and purchasing shipping insurance for your protection.
- The cost of return shipping will be deducted from your refund if we arranged for the return shipping.
3. Memberships and Subscriptions
3.1 Bird Watching Club Memberships
For our premium bird watching club memberships:
- Annual memberships may be canceled within 14 days of purchase for a full refund if you have not accessed any membership benefits.
- After 14 days or if you have accessed membership benefits, annual memberships are non-refundable but will remain active until the end of the membership period.
- Monthly subscriptions can be canceled at any time, but we do not provide refunds for partial months.
3.2 Newsletter Subscriptions
Our free newsletter subscriptions can be canceled at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any newsletter email or by contacting us directly.
4. Bird Watching Tours and Events
4.1 Cancellation by Customer
For bird watching tours and events booked through BirdWatch Explorer:

4.2 Cancellation by BirdWatch Explorer
If we cancel a tour or event for any reason:
- You will receive a full refund of all payments made.
- Alternatively, you may choose to transfer your booking to another available date or event of equal value.
- We are not responsible for any additional expenses incurred in preparation for the tour/event (such as non-refundable flight tickets, visa fees, etc.).
4.3 Weather and Natural Conditions
Bird watching tours are dependent on weather and natural conditions:
- Tours may proceed despite adverse weather conditions if they remain safe and feasible.
- No refunds will be provided for limited bird sightings due to natural factors beyond our control.
- If a tour must be shortened due to unexpected severe weather, we may provide a partial credit toward a future tour.
5. Gift Certificates
- Gift certificates are valid for one year from the date of purchase unless otherwise specified.
- Gift certificates are non-refundable but may be transferred to another person.
- Expired gift certificates may be extended at our discretion for an additional fee.
6. Refund Process
6.1 How to Request a Refund
To request a refund:
- For digital products and subscriptions: Email us at [email protected] with your order number and reason for the refund request.
- For physical products: Contact us at [email protected] to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number before sending any item back.
- For tours and events: Submit your cancellation request in writing to [email protected].
6.2 Refund Processing Time
Once we receive and approve your refund request:
- Digital product refunds will be processed within 5-7 business days.
- Physical product refunds will be processed within 10-14 business days after receiving the returned item.
- Tour and event refunds will be processed within 14-21 business days.
Refunds will be issued using the original payment method whenever possible. For credit card payments, it may take an additional 2-10 business days for the refund to appear on your statement, depending on your credit card company's policies.
7. Exceptions
7.1 Special Sales and Promotions
Items purchased during special sales or promotions may have different refund policies, which will be clearly stated at the time of purchase.
7.2 Custom or Personalized Orders
Custom-designed bird watching itineraries, personalized field guides, or other bespoke services are non-refundable once work has begun on them.
7.3 Force Majeure
In cases of force majeure (such as natural disasters, pandemics, civil unrest, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control), we reserve the right to modify our refund policy as needed.
8. Changes to This Policy
We reserve the right to modify this Refund Policy at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on our website. It is your responsibility to review this policy periodically for changes. Your continued use of our services following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
